A Word About Excellence

From all the mutterings I hear and some that I read, excellence sounds like a quality of past ages. Allow me to put it this way: Thoroughness (a quality of excellence) on the job separates the men from the boys. It is the ability to follow through and make sure all the elements of the task are in place. In the end, nothing can take the bloom out of an excellent job (or idea) faster than a sloppy attitude toward job execution . As for success, which means so many different things as there are so many different people, I offer these words of wisdom: "If success turns your head, you're facing the wrong direction." Thanks for visiting. -- Bob (Mt. 10:29-33)

Not for Eating

From my archives because I do not intend to reinvent what has already been recorded. According to a News Service years ago, this was reported: The inscription on the metal bands used by the US Dept. of the Interior to tag migratory birds has been changed. The bands used to bear the address of the Washington Biological Survey, abbreviated: Wash. Biol. Survey That is, until the agency received the following letter from an Arkansas camper, which read: "Dear Sirs: While camping last week I shot one of your birds. I think it was a crow. I followed the cooking instructions on the leg tag and I want to tell you it was horrible." Be advised. The bands are now marked Fish and Wildlife Service. Thanks for visiting. -- Bob P.S.
